Getting started with preparedness can feel overwhelming—there is no shortage of information, products, and opinions, and it is often unclear where to begin or what actually matters. This workshop is designed to cut through the noise and provide a practical, structured starting point.

This workshop focuses on the most common disruptions people actually experience, not extreme or unrealistic scenarios. We will walk through real-world events such as power outages, boil water advisories, severe weather, and supply disruptions, and discuss how to prepare for them in a logical, scalable way.

Topics covered include:

  • Identifying realistic risks specific to everyday life and your local area
  • Short-term vs. long-term preparedness priorities
  • Water security: storage options, purification methods, and safe usage
  • Food preparedness: shelf-stable foods, long-term storage basics, and common mistakes
  • Power outages: lighting, refrigeration concerns, communication, and backup power concepts
  • Developing a simple preparedness plan that fits your household, budget, and lifestyle

This class is ideal for beginners who want clear direction, but it also benefits experienced individuals by helping them validate gaps, assumptions, and overlooked dependencies. The emphasis is on thinking systematically, not fear-based selling or one-size-fits-all solutions.

Come prepared with questions and scenarios you want to discuss. The session is interactive and encourages thoughtful conversation around preparedness, resilience, and self-reliance.
