TruPrep To Take Part in Smyrna Ready PrepareAthon 2014!

TruPrep is excited to be taking part in this upcoming weekends Ready Smyrna PrepareAthon!  Ready Smyrna’s PrepareAThon! is a community-based campaign for action to increase emergency preparedness and resilience. “We will be providing resources and educational opportunities to prepare our citizens for all types of disasters in their daily environments” stated Smyrna Mayor A. Max Bacon. All are encouraged to participate in the upcoming community wide tornado drill and preparedness expo on March 21st and 22nd.

The PrepareAthon Expo will take place from 10 am to 2 pm at the new Smyrna Elementary school located at 199 Fleming Street Smyrna, Georgia 30080. It will feature classes, and exhibit center, and preparedness arts and crafts for children of all ages. The local first responders will be demonstrating and displaying their equipment including fire trucks and police gear. The Exhibit hall will showcase local vendors as well as non-profits who are able to provide information critical in an emergency. With food, fun, and facts all converging on a family focused environment, this will be the prime place to both educate and entertain members of your family who many have never thought about prepping.

TruPrep will be holding classes throughout the day on how to build a C.R.A.S.H. bag (similar to a bug out bag or a get home bag) and a general overview class on “Why to Prepare”. Classes will also be offered by the public health department on food storage safety, and by the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office on document safety in an emergency.

The TruPrep booth will feature paracord braiding and teach children in attendance to make paracord key chains free of charge. The entire event is open to the public with no admission fee or parking charge. It a wonderful opportunity to show your kids that a prepared lifestyle is enjoyable and mainstream.
