Homemade Natural Bug Killer

Here’s what you do:

Homemade Natural Bug Killer (you aren’t going to believe this).

Here is what you need:

  • 1 Quart (32oz) Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Dish soap
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • Spray Bottle

Here’s what you do:

Fill the bottle with water first and add soap and oil last, then gently swirl around. This keeps it from foaming up in the bottle.

(Write the ingredients on the bottle with a sharpie so that you will always have access to the recipe.)

No… this is not a joke. It may seem too simple to work. Seriously… I swear it works! It is perfect for killing those tiny little ants that get in your kitchen. I have even killed a few spiders and a roach with this. (The bigger the bug, the more you need to spray it)

This stuff is obviously non-toxic. Oil and soap is the kind of stuff that ends up on your kitchen counter anyway. And talk about cheap! You can’t beat the price tag! If you already have a spray bottle (or you can pick up a new one at Lowe’s) it will cost you about 6 cents to make… see below:

There are 76 Tablespoons in a 38 oz bottle of Dawn dish soap for about $3.97

There are 288 teaspoons in a 48 oz bottle Crisco canola oil for about $3.82

3.97 / 76 = .05

3.82 / 288 = .01

.05 + .01= $0.06 cost

So if you are looking for a way to kill bugs inside your house without poisoning your family or if you are like my good friend Matthew who would knock over your mother to pick up a dollar bill off of the ground… this is a win win!

Why is this a good prepper blog Amy? Well reader, there may come a time when you do not have the option of running to the store to pick up what you need. A lot of prepper stuff comes down to learning to be more Macgyver like… or Amish like.

Oh btw… this will not keep bugs from coming back. It is only good for killing them on the spot.

Try it… Try it now before you forget. You will be happy you did!
