Sometimes the difference between almost right and perfect is an eighth of an inch.
A customer recently came in with a rail that was just slightly too long—approximately 1/8” beyond tolerance to allow proper installation of a suppressor on the muzzle device. Rather than compromise fitment or performance, the solution was a precision rail modification.
This is where TruPrep’s armorer services stand out.
Shep, TruPrep’s in-house armorer, evaluated the setup and executed a clean, purpose-driven modification:
The rail was precisely cut to the required length
All newly exposed surfaces and edges were carefully cleaned and deburred
The finish was restored using AlumaBlack for corrosion resistance and a factory-clean appearance
The rail was reinstalled and verified for proper fitment and alignment
The end result: flawless suppressor clearance, clean lines, and a modification that looks like it came from the factory that way.
This type of work highlights why Shep is widely regarded as one of the top AR-15 armorers in the Atlanta area. Attention to detail, proper tooling, and a deep understanding of AR geometry ensure that modifications don’t just work—they work correctly.
