Please note: The cost for this course is $50 for registrations prior to the day of the class and $60 the day of the class.

In this class students will learn the basics of first aid, the most common-life threatening emergencies, how to recognize them, and how to help.  Students will also receive insight on how to apply some of these skills in the outdoor setting.  This class is broken into two parts:

I. American Heart Association Heartsaver® First Aid Portion (3 Hours)

  • Learn critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrive.
  • Objectives include: duties and responsibilities of first aid rescuers; first aid actions for medical emergencies, including severe choking, heart attack, andstroke; and skills for handling injury and environmental emergencies, including external bleeding, broken bones and sprains, and bites and stings.

II. Pracitcal Portion of Class (1 Hour)

  • Engage in “real life” scenerios to earn American Heart Assciation 2 year First Aid Certification Card by demonstrating following skills: Removing nitrile gloves safely, finding the problem the first few minutes of an emergency, using an epinephrine pen, stopping bleeding and proper bandaging
  • Learn perspectives on how to apply first aid knowledge in the outodoor setting from Licensed Wilderness EMT.
  • Review suggested ideas for first aid kit


Instructor Bio:

Chief Rebecca Strobl is the founder and President of New Life Solutions International LLC and has been in Fire and Emergency Medical Services as a volunteer serving her community for the last decade.  She is an EMT-Intermediate, Wilderness EMT, Registered Volunteer Firefighter, and an American Heart Association CPR / AED / First Aid Instructor.  She was elected by her peers to become the first female fire chief in Cherokee County's history.  She possesses over fourteen years of sales, marketing, teambuilding, leadership, and motivational speaking experience from her various roles in both corporate America and grassroots volunteerism.  She is passionate about helping others learn life saving skills and encouraging them to follow their dreams.
